Valeria Garibotti Val first came to Viva in 2009. After a few months break she decided to come back last year in June and even if she keeps saying she's going to leave soon, well, she's still here! Val has dived in most places around the globe and is the resident linguist, being able to teach in 5 languages. If you want to make her happy take her to buy some ice cream, Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia is her favourite! Being Italian she can be loud and a bit of a diva, hence her nickname 'The Viva Diva'.
Basil Miller Basil comes from a long line of boat captains. Having grown up on the water in Grand Bahama, He is widely considered one of the most experianced and knowledgeable boat captains around. Basil has an easy going temperment, can often be found listening to his onboard radio, and will always lend a hand when needed.
Martin Vanderveken Before coming to us at Viva Diving, Martin had his traveling pants on and was wandering all over the world. He worked as an active Divemaster in Australia, Greece and Utila. Now at Viva Diving to start his Instructor career, we couldn't be happier! Martin has had an instant fan following from those who dive with him, and even those who don't! Martin is fluent in both French and English.
George Titlow George first came to Viva in 2010 to join the Divemaster internship and last September he successfully completed the IDC and became an instructor. After a break of four months he decided to come back March this year. George is extremely polite and has a very quirky sense of humour. He loves all kind of sports and is the reigning ping pong champion and tennis instructor for those in the team who were not so gifted ball games players. He enjoys good food (he loves bread with olive oil!!), a few drinks after work and writing.
Tyson Cafe-Ruoff Tyson has joined the team last November and fit in straight away. Being from Canada he's not afraid of cold waters and you will be seeing him diving in winter with a 3mm!! When he came to Viva he had never had an espresso but has now become a true coffee lover, so if you don't find him in the shop he's probably at the bar. He's a very talented instructor, he has also dived in Mexico, Canada and Honduras, where he did his IDC. He loves hockey (the Toronto Leafs of course!), crosswords and saying 'eh' after every word.
Mallory Mediodia Raphael Mallory joined the dive team in October last year after successfully completing our IDC. She has quickly become a favourite among the guests as she is very polite, knowledgeable and patient. She's our resident aquatic life guru, she will tell you the most interesting facts about life in the Bahamian waters. She's also our winds and weather reporter, hence the nickname 'The Wind Whisperer'. Trained as a professional chef she often treats the team to delicious home made cooking, her chilli is the team's favourite dish!!!
Broyde McDonald Broyde came to Viva last September to join our Divemaster internship program and also to train as a boat captain. Don't let Broyde's appearance fool you (he is very tall) as he has a very gentle and chilled nature. He is the slowest walker the team has ever known, loves basketball and drinks a lot of fruit juices. His favourite phrase....sexiest man on legs!!! |
